Weight Management Hypnotherapy

Eating disorders come in many forms, including but not limited to Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia and Obesity. All these disorders are fully treatable and once any physical issues have been ruled out, the answer lies in the psyche.

Hypnotherapy can be hugely effective when dealing with controlled weight loss or gain and, in order to help you achieve your goal, we will look at eating habits and relationship to food as well as starting to change any unhelpful thoughts or beliefs that are limiting you. This will not only help your physical health and fitness but boost your mental health too.

As we work through this therapy together, you will find that your eating patterns begin to naturally change, and you become much more confident as you gain control over what you eat.

Quitting Smoking Hypnotherapy

Giving up smoking can be a real challenge but fear not, hypnotherapy can help!

Hypnotherapy has had real success helping people to give up and works by challenging unhelpful mindsets and the negative behaviours associated with smoking.

Most people only require a single hypnotherapy session.

You’re probably already aware of some of the long-term health benefits you can expect by giving up smoking, such as:

  • Your hair, skin, and breath will no longer smell of tobacco smoke
  • Your sense of taste and smell will improve
  • Your breathing will be easier
  • You will be better able to cope with physical exertion
  • You’ll feel a sense of achievement that you’ve quit
  • You will save money by not having to buy cigarettes

If this sounds like what you need, contact me today and let’s chat about how I can help you stop smoking for good.

Anxiety & Panic Attack Hyponotherapy

We all have the possibility to experience anxiety at some time in our lives. Most people can relate to feeling tense, uncertain, and perhaps fearful at the thought of going for an interview, starting a new job, or going into an exam etc. You may worry about feeling uncomfortable, appearing foolish, or how successful you will be. In turn these worries can affect your sleep, appetite, and ability to concentrate. If everything goes well, the anxiety will go away.

This type of short-term anxiety can be useful. For instance, feeling nervous before a job interview can actually help you by making you feel more alert, and enhance your performance. However, if the feelings of anxiety overwhelm you, your ability to concentrate and do well may suffer.

Quite often anxiety can lead to a panic attack. This is an exaggeration of the body’s normal response to fear, stress or excitement. It is the rapid build-up of overwhelming sensations, such as a pounding heartbeat, feeling faint, sweating, nausea, chest pains, breathing discomfort, if you experience this, you may fear that you are going mad, blacking out, or having a heart attack. You may be convinced you are going to die in the course of the attack – making this a terrifying experience. Panic attacks come on very quickly, symptoms usually peaking within 10 minutes. Most panic attacks last for between 5 and 20 minutes.

Hypnotherapy can help you with anxiety and panic attacks by boost feelings of confidence and self-belief while reducing feelings of fear and intense worry.  It can help you develop the ability to access a relaxed state of mind which is needed to overcome the overwhelming emotions that come with anxiety.

Bereavement & Loss Hypnotherapy

Grief is the thoughts and feelings we experience when we lose something or someone we love and value. Grieving comes in many forms and may not necessarily involve the death of a person, although it is the most widely known cause of bereavement; we can find ourselves grieving at the end of a relationship or a friendship, at the loss of a job or of financial security, after a miscarriage, because of infertility, or because of serious illness or disability – our own or someone we love; or even at the death of a pet.  The more central to our lives the thing we have lost, the greater the sense of loss and grief.  Grief is a natural and healthy emotional response to the loss of someone we love or something we value.

The way grief affects you depends on many things, such as the nature of the loss, your upbringing, your beliefs or religion, your age, your relationships, and your physical and mental health.

Hypnotherapy can help you to overcome grief and loss and reach a stage where it will not be so difficult to visit the memories of your loved one. Hypnotherapy can help to teach your brain to focus on the memories you shared, rather than on the sadness of your grief.

Insomnia Hypnotherapy

Insomnia is the feeling or inability to go to sleep or to stay asleep through the night.  The amount of sleep you require each night varies from person to person.  Most people need around 7 to 9 hours, though children need more and older people need much less. insomnia is not defined in terms of a certain amount of sleep, but in terms of how you feel as a result of the sleep you get. Sleep is something that everybody needs and it plays a vital role in both our physical and mental health.

Hypnotherapy can offer a gentle and effective help to break the cycle of sleepless nights by encouraging relaxation and unwinding, creating an opportunity to re-orientate your thoughts and emotions, so you can get the quality of sleep that you need to be healthy and alert throughout the day.  This is because hypnosis communicates directly with the inner mind, it can address the unconscious habit of bad sleep in a way which other methodologies (like drug therapy – sleeping tablets) cannot.  The very nature of hypnosis is a relaxing process which helps calm the motor function of the central nervous system, helping you to achieve deep muscle relaxation Hypnosis is often referred to as focused attention or bringing attention to a sharp focus like looking through the lens of a camera.  It is this nature of bringing focus of awareness down, filtering out extraneous thoughts that helps you drift over into sleep.

Ross also teaches you good sleep habits (sleep hygiene) to help promote a good night’s rest.  Quite often if you have had a broken pattern of sleep due to a past stressful event you can get into bad habits, such as getting up in the middle of the night to watch TV.  Hypnosis encourages good sleep hygiene and hence promotes a good night’s sleep.

Stress Management Hyponotherapy

Stress can be defined as the emotional, physiological and psychological effects caused by a build-up of either internally or externally generated mental pressure.

Everyone responds differently to stress, some may experience anxiety, panic attacks, aggressive behaviour while others find it affects their digestive system or makes them feel tired or run down.

The good news is that hypnotherapy is a very effective tool to help you to take control of your stress symptoms and focus on more positive areas of your life, even if the negative events that you have no control over are still current. At Endurance Therapies, Ross will work with you as an individual to find out what the stressors are in your life and tailor your hypnotherapy intervention to meet your individual needs. It is important to acknowledge that people are stressed by different things; someone might be stressed about meeting new people: another person may be stressed about their heavy workload at work; another may be stressed by giving a presentation. The situation itself does not cause the stress, otherwise everybody would be stressed by the same situation.

Sports Performance Hypnotherapy

Being in the zone is a highly focused state where nothing else exists other than your one goal. The 100m sprinter would see the finishing line and nothing else. No other thought is going through their mind other than being first over the finishing line. They can’t hear the crowd of 60,000 people; they can’t see what else is going around them. They’re not aware of the temperature outside of their body. It’s just them and the finish.

Using hypnotherapy for sporting performance can mean the difference between winning and losing. Hypnotherapy can give you the mental edge you need to win by focusing your mind and bringing you back into the zone. By allowing you to put aside distractions, winning becomes your only option.

Hypnosis can also help sports people and athletes deal with pain and injuries through teaching techniques that allow minor pain to be put aside for the goal of winning. Relaxation methods can also be particularly helpful when it comes to managing pain, which is a part of most sports.

Hypnosis can also help athletes return to training and competition more quickly, something which can be very important for athletes competing at the highest levels.
